All-inclusive price or custom quote in one hours.
San Diego homes often make outdoor areas part of everyday living. However, many kitchens are still separated from the patio, deck, pool area, or backyard.
An OpenUp® pass-through window creates a direct opening between these spaces. It allows you to serve food and drinks, speak with guests, and stay connected to the outdoor area without repeatedly walking through a door.
Each window is built to order based on your required dimensions and selected options. The top-hinged window panel opens outward to 90 degrees, creating a wide and clear serving area above the counter.
OpenUp® pass-through windows can be used in homes and businesses, including kitchens, bars, pool houses, and other spaces that need a practical serving opening.
For sunny climates, OpenUp® recommends triple-silver soft coatings for maximum solar protection and efficiency.
The standard OpenUp® option uses 1-inch insulated glass made with two 3/16-inch tempered glass panes separated by a black spacer. This creates a 5/8-inch air pocket between the glass layers, providing twice the insulation of a single pane. Argon gas can also replace the air between the panes to add more insulating value.
Our customer support team can help you explore customized glass options, including Low-E coatings, argon gas fills, and laminated glass.
OpenUp Windows combines a wide pass-through opening with durable materials, custom sizing, and several operating options.
The window creates an active opening between your indoor and outdoor spaces. You can use it for serving meals, passing drinks, speaking with guests, or making an outdoor counter easier to access. The window panel opens upward and stays above the serving area. This leaves the counter open for food, drinks, and conversation.
Many OpenUp® products are available as no-sill pass-through windows. The no-sill design creates a clean connection across the counter and makes it easier to pass food and drinks through the opening. A sill frame is also available as an option for projects that require one.
Each window combines heavy-duty extruded aluminum with Accoya® wood. The aluminum provides strength and durability. Accoya® wood adds natural beauty and insulation to the interior frame. This combination also allows OpenUp® to create narrow frame profiles with a larger visible glass area.
Several standard window sizes are available through the online store. Custom sizes can also be produced for openings that do not match a standard product. Before ordering, measure both the interior and exterior sides of the opening. Differences in counter, floor, or patio height should be identified before the final dimensions are submitted. Contact the OpenUp® team if you have questions about sizing your pass-through window.
A fixed insect screen would block the serving opening. OpenUp® offers a retractable Pleated Screen that can be moved when you need the full pass-through space.
You can lower the screen when you want protection from flying insects. You can then move it out of the way when passing food, drinks, or other items through the opening.
When the screen is ordered with the window, it comes factory-mounted before shipping.
A screen can also be ordered after the window is installed. It will be custom-sized for the finished opening.
The Pleated Screen frame is available painted white or black.
Measure both the interior and exterior before placing your order.
Differences between the indoor floor, outdoor patio, counter, and wall opening should be identified before the final dimensions are submitted.
If a completed custom window does not fit because of a measuring error, OpenUp® will try to resell it at a discount. The amount received will be credited toward the cost of the correctly sized replacement window.
Contact the OpenUp® team before ordering if you are uncertain about the required dimensions.
Custom windows do not need to take months.
OpenUp® pass-through windows are built to order and usually ship within 4–6 weeks.
Every window is built, assembled, glazed, and shipped from the OpenUp® manufacturing facility in Upstate New York, USA.
Custom windows are shipped by freight with tailgate delivery. You will need people available to unload the window from the tailgate and move it to the required location at the job site.
Plan for unloading before your window arrives.

We purchased a 96 x 42 inch window with a 96 x 12 inch transom push out window for the bar in our new 3 season room. The window looks amazing and is the center piece of the room. I spoke with Adam several times during the process and he made me feel very comfortable with this purchase. Adam even drove to our home and helped with the installation.
