A traditional window separates two spaces. A pass-through window can help bring them together.
Open the sash and the counter can work as a serving surface between your kitchen and a patio, outdoor dining area, bar, or other connected space.
You can pass plates, drinks, and other items directly through the opening while keeping the countertop below free for use.
When the sash is closed, the large glass area keeps the opening bright and open.
Our gas-strut windows use a top-hinged awning design.
As the sash opens, the gas struts support it above the opening rather than leaving part of the window in the serving area.
This creates a clear space below the sash and gives you more usable room across the full width of the opening.
The design works well for kitchens, serving counters, bars, and other spaces where a traditional swinging or sliding window may leave more framing in the way.
Our pass-through windows use insulated glass, with several glazing options available depending on the needs of your project.
Our standard insulated glass unit is 1 inch thick and uses two pieces of tempered glass with an insulating air space between them.
Available upgrades include:
These choices let you select a glass package rather than being limited to one standard glazing setup.
OpenUp Windows combines a wide pass-through opening with durable materials, custom sizing, and several operating options.
We combine structural extruded aluminum with Accoya® wood rather than using a conventional aluminum-clad wood frame. The aluminum forms part of the window’s structure, while Accoya® is used on the interior side.
Accoya® has been tested for dimensional stability, durability, and paint retention. We use it as part of our hybrid frame system alongside the structural aluminum exterior.
Our extruded aluminum frame helps reduce the amount of visible framing around the window. Our design provides 33% more view when closed, leaving more of the opening dedicated to glass.
Standard and custom sizes, different sill setups, insulated glass choices, and an optional Pleated Screen give you several ways to configure the window around your project.
You may want your pass-through completely open while serving or entertaining, but there are also times when a screen is useful.
Our retractable OpenUp® Pleated Screen provides insect protection without permanently covering the opening.
The screen works with any size OpenUp® window and can move out of the way when you want full access to the pass-through.
We factory-mount the screen before shipping, and you can choose a white or black frame.
Your opening does not have to match one fixed window size.
We offer standard configurations as well as custom dimensions for projects that need a different width or height.
This gives you more flexibility when planning a new opening or replacing an existing window.
Our technical information also includes detailed dimensions, sill options, and nailing-flange mounting information that your contractor can review while planning the installation.
Our custom pass-through windows are manufactured to order based on your confirmed size and selected configuration.
Glass choices, screen options, sill setup, and other selected features are finalized before the window is prepared for shipping.
Custom windows typically ship within 4–6 weeks after the order specifications are confirmed.

We are so happy with our gas strut window. Adam was wonderful to work with. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions and we had alot. Our window was shipped to Florida in a crate that was very secure and came with step by step instructions on how to remove it. It was easy to install. This is a very well made product. Openup Windows definitely takes pride in there work and that is very hard to find these days. We are so happy we decided to purchase from this company. And the window arrived on my Anniversary which made it even more special. Thank you Adam!!![]()

We purchased a 96 x 42 inch window with a 96 x 12 inch transom push out window for the bar in our new 3 season room. The window looks amazing and is the center piece of the room. I spoke with Adam several times during the process and he made me feel very comfortable with this purchase. Adam even drove to our home and helped with the installation. I highly recommend OpenUp windows.![]()

We are delighted with our OpenUp window. It has transformed how we use our indoor and ourdoor spaces and really allows us to enjoy our kitchen in a way we couldn't previously. It's early days, but we're delighted with the quality of the product and the price was definitely more reasonable than some of the competition out there. If you're looking for a window that will allow you to bridge the gap between your kitchen and patio/deck, I would definitely recommend you look into OpenUp.![]()
