A wall between your kitchen and outdoor area can make serving food, sharing drinks, and entertaining less convenient.
An OpenUp® pass-through window creates an active connection between the two spaces. It gives you a practical opening for serving while helping everyone remain part of the conversation.
OpenUp® pass-through windows can be used in homes and businesses, including kitchens, bars, pool houses, and interior openings. Every window is custom-built to order and designed to combine functionality with a clean, minimalist appearance.
A pass-through window gives the space between two areas a useful purpose.
When open, it makes serving food and drinks easier. When closed, the narrow frame and larger glass area help maintain the view between the spaces.
OpenUp® pass-through windows can connect:
OpenUp® states that its minimalist framing provides 33% more view when the window is closed. The larger glass area also allows more natural light into the room.
The standard OpenUp® option uses a 1-inch insulated glass unit.
It contains two pieces of 3/16-inch tempered glass separated by a black spacer. This creates a 5/8-inch air pocket between the panes and provides twice the insulation of a single pane.
Argon gas can replace the air between the panes to add more insulating value. OpenUp® also offers customized glass options, including:
For sunny climates and southern states, OpenUp® recommends triple-silver coatings for maximum solar protection and efficiency.
OpenUp Windows combines a wide pass-through opening with durable materials, custom sizing, and several operating options.
OpenUp® pass-through windows link indoor and outdoor areas. The opening makes it easier to serve meals and drinks while staying connected with guests.
The design can be used in kitchens, bars, pool houses, and other spaces where a more open connection is needed.
OpenUp® uses extruded aluminum as a structural part of its hybrid window frame. This is different from aluminum cladding, which is generally a thin exterior layer wrapped around a wood window. OpenUp® combines its exterior aluminum structure with Accoya® wood on the inside.
OpenUp® uses custom aluminum extrusions and minimalist framing to create a larger visible glass area. According to the company, the original design provides 33% more view when the window is closed. It also supports wider sightlines and more natural light.
Accoya® wood forms the interior part of the hybrid frame. It is PEFC and FSC certified and described by OpenUp® as 100% non-toxic. Accoya® has also been tested for dimensional stability, durability, and paint retention. The wood grows in responsibly managed forests and can replace scarce tropical hardwoods, treated wood, and other less sustainable materials.
A fixed insect screen would block an active pass-through opening. OpenUp® offers a retractable Pleated Screen that stays out of the way until insect protection is needed.
Pull the screen down when you want to keep flying insects and other critters outside. Move it when you want access to the full pass-through opening.
The Pleated Screen works with any size OpenUp® window. It comes factory-mounted before shipping, and its frame is available painted white or black.

He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions and we had alot. Our window was shipped to Florida in a crate that was very secure and came with step by step instructions on how to remove it. It was easy to install. This is a very well made product. Openup Windows definitely takes pride in there work and that is very hard to find these days. We are so happy we decided to purchase from this company. And the window arrived on my Anniversary which made it even more special. Thank you Adam!! John SierchioTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We purchased a 96 x 42 inch window with a 96 x 12 inch transom push out window for the bar in our new 3 season room. The window looks amazing and is the center piece of the room. I spoke with Adam several times during the process and he made me feel very comfortable with this purchase. Adam even drove to our home and helped with the installation.
